Internet activity in Basque non-public media continues to grow and has grown by 60% in the last two years. As for the sessions, that is, the set of actions that the user performs until it enters and leaves the web, last May the websites in Basque reached the highest figure in history: More than 1,810,000 visits. The same can be said of the number of users, that is, the number of different users who accessed the websites, and the pages that are visited in a visit: more than four million. The number of new users, that is, those who first accessed the websites, was the highest of all time last May.

The first data collected after the summer break show that Hekimen's online media audience will continue to grow in the coming months.

All these data have been collected by the Hekimen Analytics project that the Hekimen association has launched. Hekimen Analytics is a tool to know and analyze the activity of the Basque media network, developed by the company CodeSyntax, thanks to the grants of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and Udalbiltza. It was launched this year. Through it are collected the results of forty-six websites from all over Euskal Herria and all the media. The tool allows to know not only the figures of each medium but also the accumulated data of all the media that make up the association, as well as make comparisons between the different websites.

In total, more than thirty variables were taken into account, including sessions, users, pages, total duration or performance of twitter followers.

In view of the trends observed in the last two years, it is evident that the sessions of the Basque media website are increasing, especially since last autumn. In recent months, for example, the websites analyzed have a monthly traffic of more than 1.5 million sessions and more than 4 million pages.

Regarding the data for the first half of this year, it should be noted that this year an even greater increase is expected, since the data predict an increase of the order of 40% instead of the 15% increments of the previous year. In May 2015, Hekimen's websites were concentrated with more historical visits: 1.810.837 specifically.

This means that Basque consumers spend more and more time on Hekimen's websites, although the average length of visits is decreasing. In 2011 consumer visits were about 6 minutes, and in the first half of 2015 the average was about 4 minutes.

There are three types of media between Hekimen websites. Generalists, both native and members of a larger media group; local, i.e. local media websites; and finally, thematic, general websites on a topic. The websites that receive the most visits today are the general ones, more than half (53.7%). The local media account for 42% of the visits and the thematic ones for 3.6%. It should be noted that more and more visits come through the premises, since in 2011 were about 25% of visits. The duration of visits in the general media is three times longer: 2015, about 05:30 in general websites, 02:21 in local and 02:31 in thematic.

The data also show an upward trend with respect to Basque media websites. In general, visits to the websites of most media outlets are intensifying, but it should be noted that the Basque media is growing more than other media in the area. In summary, the sector's websites registered a 17.6% increase between 2013 and 2014 in terms of users, and taking into account only the first half of 2014 and 2015, this increase has doubled: 31.9%.
