Scientific dissemination and education
Elhuyar | Zerbitzuak
In order to expand scientific dissemination both in society and in the educational environment, we work in three areas: diffusion of scientific culture, creation of initiatives to develop the scientific and technological skills and competencies of young people and offering good quality communication services, adapted to the needs of customers.
In our work to promote the scientific culture, we publicize the advances of science and technology through different projects. We attach particular importance to the dissemination of the work and opinion of researchers in the Basque Country.
In the field of education, we work both in the regulated education system and in leisure. We bring local researchers closer to young people and offer them the opportunity to work on STEAM projects.
We offer communication services specialized in science and technology, through a working group composed of scientists, journalists and linguists; but we also offer communication services for other areas, since we are specialists in content and work in all kinds of media.
Scientific culture

Radio Programme on Science and Technology Through various collaborations, listeners of the Basque Country Irratia are offered information and reflections on the occur in these areas both in the Basque Country and in the rest of the world.
Scientific content reference website for the general public: videos, audios, articles, agenda, dictionary, advanced search engine, thematic classification… all created by the Elhuyar team.
Elhuyar, in collaboration with other agents of the science and technology network, organizes various competitions and initiatives (CAF-Elhuyar Awards, Onzientzia…) to promote, reward and recognize the dissemination in Basque of research and scientific and technical issues and their dissemination in society.. Examples of this are:
- CAF-Elhuyar Awards:Created in 1994, it is an award for the dissemination of science and technology in Basque, organized in collaboration with the company CAF. There are currently six awards, one in each of the following categories:

We have launched different initiatives to bring society closer to the scientific system. In order for science and society to be mutually responsible, we have organized scientific projects, discussion sessions, roundtables, reflections and research, training sessions to strengthen and channel the relationship between the research system and society.
STEAM Education
Zientzia Azoka is the project fair developed by young people, an opportunity to live research and development from within. Students aged 12 to 18 develop a research and technological project in groups with the help of professionals and present the result in public. This is mainly about projects developed in schools, although workers outside of school also participate.
Zientzia Azoka also has a virtual platform to combine face-to-face and virtual participation.
In addition, Elhuyar has an alliance with international and state scientific fairs to offer international experiences to young people.

Bizilabe is a research centre aimed at young people between 10 and 19 years old, located in leisure spaces, where young people develop their creativity and carry out research in an independent and interdisciplinary environment; without the pressure of the school classroom or a rigid program, that is, outside the requirements of the curriculum and school hours. Children and adolescents are encouraged to develop theories and experiment on their own, with the aim of encouraging their interest in science and technology at an early age and trying to inspire them in the later scientific adventures. To do this, Bizilabe seeks to create a link between education, the scientific community, families and society, and to offer a more real vision of science and technology.

We work on new methodologies, research models, inspirational actions and new trends in STEAM education, addressing both regulated and non-regulated education, and offer advice and collaboration opportunities to those agents who want to participate in this initiative.
In order to know the knowledge that is being generated around STEAM education, we participate in European projects and follow up on the innovations that arise in the field of science didactics. We lead the STEMFAIRNET project, which aims to create a transnational network of science fairs and share good practices both to improve the development of STEM competencies and to reach all students. On the other hand, we have in place the Emergent project, created to help science, technology and math teachers train on gender equality. In addition, we are part of a STEAM education consortium composed of participants from various European countries, within the SPOON project (STEM education and Practice are not Only about the cONtent), led by the French agency 'Maison pour la Science' and the University of Strasbourg (Unistra).
In addition, at https://zientzia.eus/steam/, we share knowledge, report on appropriate practices and publish resources that can inspire both young people and teachers.
Communication services
We develop communication strategies and advise organizations and carry out press office work: media relations, press releases, social networks, mailings, websites, newsletters…
We design and produce audiovisuals for all types of formats and media, from corporate or didactic videos to documentaries.
Communication and dissemination of events and congresses of all areas of knowledge.
We work in the communication and dissemination of research, development and innovation projects, both European and the rest of the world, so that the high level knowledge generated reaches society.
