COMIENZA ESTE FIN DE SEMANA LA NUEVA TEMPORADA DE TEKNOPOLIS

THE NEW TEKNOPOLIS SEASON BEGINS THIS WEEKEND

2018 | September 24
  • 20 years spreading science and technology in a simple and attractive way
  • Saturdays at ETB1 and Sundays at ETB2 at 13:30

This morning the new season of the Teknopolis programme, dedicated to science and technology, has been presented. In fact, it will come out this weekend at ETB1 and ETB2 at the same time: 13:30 hours.

This program, co-produced by Elhuyar and ETB, will last 20 years exposing scientific-technological issues in an attractive and easy to understand way. During this time, the programme has been constantly evolving and, a year more, has sought a balance between experience and innovation.

As in previous years, the presenter will be Iñaki Leturia Yurrita, but the viewer will discover new faces, as the young journalists have joined the group of great experience. As directors, Nagore Rementeria Argote and Leturia himself will act.

At the press conference Leturia clarifies that sections that “work well” will continue in the new season. In this way, one more year, in the “Preliminary Test” section, the most personal and informal face of scientists will be known, as well as the most interesting apps for mobile devices in the “Apperitifa” space. Along with them, reports and other content will be offered on a specific topic. For example, in the first session the protagonist will be Bardea.

The presentation took place at the Joxe Mari Korta Centre (University of the Basque Country). In fact, the UPV/EHU is one of the sponsors of Teknopolis and, as evidence of this support, Miren Bego Urrutia Barandika has attended the presentation. As he explained, he is the head of the Department of Social Disclosure of Research that has just created the UPV/EHU and Teknopolis is the ideal partner to fulfill one of the main functions of the university as a tool to disseminate knowledge to society.

Xabier Aurrekoetxea Basañez, deputy director of ETB1 programmes, adds to what Urrutia said. In addition, Teknopolis highlights that he gets good audience data. In his opinion, public television must necessarily work on scientific and technological issues, but also, if the audience helps, it means that people like that product.

Finally, Elhuyar’s Director-General, Leire Cancio Orueta, has highlighted that Teknopolis’s entertainment and current events come together. It has related the current situation to the need for scientific-technical vocations, and has stated that “we have a clear need to do promotion work among boys, and especially among girls”. To this end, he stressed the importance of the bridges between the world of science and technology and society, and stressed that the role of Elhuyar and Teknopolis is precisely that of “bridging”.

Finally, Cancio has pointed out and thanked the sponsors and collaborators in the new edition of Teknopolis: EITB, Department of Economic Development and Infrastructure and Education of the Basque Government, Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, University of the Basque Country, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Public University of Navarra, TKNIKA, research and innovation center applied to Vocational Training and FECYT, Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. In the new season, the group is made up of the Basque Energy Agency.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the aforementioned sponsors and collaborators, including Joseba Beldarrain Agirre, responsible for the Business Programme of the Basque Government.

Teknopolis will be broadcast at 1.30 p.m. on Saturdays at ETB1 and on Sundays at ETB2.
