- In addition to the usual categories, this year a new award for jobs related to the primary sector.

The prize categories are:
- Original outreach articles. It is divided into two subcategories: general outreach articles and outreach articles based on the author's doctoral thesis. The winner of each subcategory will receive a prize of 2,000 euros and a sculpture by Imanol Andonegi.
- Works of scientific journalism. It awards 2,000 euros and sculpture.
- Scholarship of creation in Science Society. This category supports projects that work on the interaction between science/technology and society. The author of the selected project receives a grant of 5,000 euros for its execution, as well as a sculpture.
Also this year there is another prize for works related to the primary sector. This contest, organized by CAF and Elhuyar in collaboration, has the collaboration of NEIKER, Basque Institute of Agriculture, Research and Development. The aim of NEIKER is to promote the use of Basque in research and as a sign of this it has become a sponsor of the contest.
