At the Extraordinary General Assembly held on 10 March, representatives of EIKEN's partner entities unanimously elected the new Steering Committee, the group that will now guide the trajectory of the Audiovisual and Digital Content Cluster in the Basque Country. In its life of more than 12 years, EIKEN has managed, through the internalization of discourses and criteria of business management and sector competitiveness, to create a dynamic of the industrial sector in Basque audiovisual, where less than a decade ago other types of approaches predominated.

The situation in the sector has changed a lot since EIKEN began its journey. The digitization process has meant a total transformation in the generation of content to the sector, its distribution and the creation of new business models. Therefore, the Cluster aims to be the benchmark of the Basque Digital Content Industry through the union of different companies of the Basque Digital Ecosystem.

The new President, Aletxu Echevarria, thanked Juan Mari Gurrutxaga, former president, and the Directorate so far, for his dedication and commitment to the sector through the cluster. In addition, in the face of the new stage, he stressed that “EIKEN must adapt to the new habits of content consumption, since it is necessary to move forward in the construction of the industry, since digitization and multiscreen access have greatly modified the forms of generation, distribution and monetization of”.

As Aletxu Echevarria pointed out, the Steering Committee is a clear exponent of the need to lead this change.The new committee consists of representatives of companies from sectors such as EiTB, Euskaltel, Pausoka, Irusoin, The Blackout Project and Mixer; Dimension and Trupp, from the advertising sector; Last Tour, from In addition to Alberto Méndez, representative of the Basque Government and SPRI, they are also part of the Directorate: The technological platforms Euskadikobi, IK4 and Tecnalia; Digipe, University of Video Games; and the Associations of Producers and Cultural Innovation Basque, EPE/APV and Karraska.
