Training regional agents on social innovation and evaluating ten experiences are the main objectives of the process

Elhuyar Aholkularitza, in collaboration with the Beterri Development Agency, has launched a project to work on social innovation in the Beterri region. The initiative has been named Betetzea, as it aims to be a process of social innovation in the region of Beterri. The project will be subsidized by the Department of Innovation, Rural Development and Tourism of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The main objective of the process is to increase the capacity of social innovation of the agents of the region and to improve the articulation between them in order to be able to give more appropriate answers to the social challenges of the region in the future. It is about facilitating a learning process with the agents of the region to strengthen relations between agents, create new networks of collaboration, reflect jointly on the direction of the future and promote a sustainable dynamic in the field of social innovation in the region.

This learning process will have two areas of work: on the one hand, ten projects of the agents of the region will be evaluated through a tool and methodology developed by Elhuyar Aholkularitza, and on the other, five working sessions or meetings will be organized between March and June.

First meeting: 12 March

Andoain (Urigain Etxea): 10:30-13:00

The
first meeting will take place next Thursday, March 12, at the Casa Urigain in Andoain, from 10:30 to 13:00. This session will present the framework and characteristics of social innovation, the working tool used for project evaluation and will present two practical cases: Goiener, consumer energy cooperative and Uztaro, agroecological cooperative.

The second session, which will take place on 24 March, will focus on the field and activity of social innovation in Europe and the Basque Country. Gorka Espiau, of Agirre Lehendakaria Center and The Young Foundation, will talk about this topic. In addition, two other practical cases will be presented.

All agents of the region have been called to participate in the process: companies and entrepreneurs, associations of organized civil society, municipalities and other public entities, educational institutions, training and, in general, all those interested in the subject.

Registrations can be made by phone 943 25 63 47 or by admi.beterri@hernani.eus before March 10.
