#Elhuyarren Recommendations: a new initiative underway

From July 2, in addition to updating dictionaries, we will begin to give some linguistic recommendations through the initiative we have named #Elhuyar Recommendations. Among other things, through social networks we will open a criterion or recommendation to write or speak well in Euskera, and dictionaries can be consulted in .elhuyar.eus jointly.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made a special effort to provide updated terminology to people who had to write or speak about it, an increase of 38.4% in our dictionaries’ consultations.

We often receive vocabulary consultations, suggestions, questions about the correct use of the Basque language in different ways and try to respond to them in the fastest and most satisfactory way possible, using the available resources.

Since its creation in 1972, Elhuyar has made available to Basque society various linguistic means: dictionaries, spelling and grammatical correctors, automatic translators, automatic translators, etc. And here and there we offer training sessions for translators and other professionals working in Basque (journalists, teachers…).

Taking advantage of the experience accumulated over these years, we have decided to take a step forward and make recommendations related to the good use of the Basque language.
