Usurbil, 12 May 2015

Coinciding with the International Year of Light, the motto of the CAF-Elhuyar 2014 Awards is “give birth to your work”. This is the objective of the contest: to recognize and reward articles, journalistic works and projects of social insertion that publish topics and research of science and technology.

Thus, with the excuse of light, the award ceremony will take place at the Photomuseum Argazki & Zinema Museum, with the collaboration of the City of Zarautz. There you will know who will receive the prizes in the three categories that have the prize.

In addition, the Board of the Elhuyar Foundation awards the Merit Award. This year, Azpeitiarra doctor Julián Bereziartua will receive the Elhuyar Award for his work in the normalization of Basque in medicine and in the dissemination of medicine, especially in the Basque Country.

The three categories mentioned above are:

- Original outreach articles. In this category, the scientific and technological works carried out in Basque are awarded. It is divided into two subcategories: general outreach articles and outreach articles based on the author's doctoral thesis. The winner of each subcategory will receive a prize of 2,000 euros and a sculpture by Imanol Andonegi.
- Works of scientific journalism. This category awards one of the fields of scientific journalism created and published in Basque in 2014, with 2,000 euros and the sculpture of Imanol Andonegi.
- Scholarship of creation in scientific society. This category subsidizes the realization of a project that works the interaction between science/technology and society. This grant, which amounts to 5,000 euros, extends to society as one of the indispensable requirements to access it.

After the awards ceremony, the exhibition of the scholarship project will be inaugurated last year at the Museum of Art and History of Zarautz at 19:30 hours. The scholarship was awarded by sound researcher Xabier Erkizia, with the project “Silent Scriptures: written auditions and sound images”, and now the exhibition ENTZUTE ISILAK is inaugurated as a result. The exhibition will remain open until 31 May.
