Humor, art and matter structure the winners of the video contest On Zientzia
The On Zientzia Competition aims to produce and broadcast short and original videos on science and technology, within the television program Teknopolis organized by the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and Elhuyar. Yesterday the eighth prizes of this year were awarded at the Tabakalera of Donostia. Attendees were able to watch the award-winning videos of this edition. In addition to the prizes of the three categories, two special mentions were distributed.

The On Zientzia Competition aims to produce and broadcast short and original videos on science and technology, within the television program Teknopolis organized by the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and Elhuyar. Yesterday the eighth prizes of this year were awarded at the Tabakalera of Donostia. Attendees were able to watch the award-winning videos of this edition. In addition to the prizes of the three categories, two special mentions were distributed.
                                   
The awards ceremony included: Edurne Ormazabal, Director General of Tabakalera; Adolfo Morais, Deputy Minister of Universities and Research of the Basque Government; Ricardo Diez Muiño, Director of DIPC; Txema Pitark, Director of CIC nanoGUNE and President of Elhuyar; and Marian Iriart, Dean of Chemistry.
The award-winning videos are:
- Award for best informative video: Patxi Razkin Senar (CAF Engineer), video VACUUM, a cinematographic study of the structure of matter.
- Award for best video in Basque: Jon Puignau (high school teacher), Vulkano, a pictorial video of humanity that shows the influence of volcanoes in history through pictorial representations.
- Youth Award: Adrián Gálvez Pantoja (16 years old), How to make an atomic bomb, explains with humor and freshness the process of creating the atomic bomb.
- Special mentions: MarÃa Miguélez, What is that of elasticity? video by Diana Gutiérrez Fernández and LucÃa Cornejo Villanueva, Virus as weapons against pathological bacteria.
In this eighth edition more than 80 videos have been presented and the winning prizes have exceeded the limits of the video contest. Patxi Razkin, winner of the Grand Prix, also won the On Zientzia Grand Prix last year, and with his video just won the second Prize of the Raw Science Film Festival of California, while Adrián Gálvez, winner of the Gazte Prize, an editorial has acquired the rights of his video to be included in an educational material of international diffusion.
Teknopolis will issue in a special program, on June 16 at ETB1, on June 17 at ETB2, the award ceremony, as well as the award-winning works and statements of the winners.
