Since last March the Betetzea project has been launched, promoted by Elhuyar Aholkularitza to promote social innovation in our region. On the 12th, the first meeting was held at the Casa Urigain in Andoain, attended by 26 agents from the region. At this meeting, Elhuyar presented the characteristics of social innovation and the system of indicators that has worked to evaluate the projects, explaining two practical cases: Goiener, energy consumer cooperative, and Uztaro, agroecological cooperative.

The second meeting will take place on March 24 at the headquarters of Elhuyar (Osinalde Industrialdea, Zelai Haundi, 3) from 10:30 to 13:00. Gorka Espiau, member of Agirre Lehendakaria Center and The Young Foundation, will participate in the meeting and will offer a talk on the trajectory of social innovation in Europe and Euskal Herria and its future challenges. In addition, two other practical cases will be presented: The Gaztetxe Lakaxita of Irun has launched, on the one hand, the LKXTkoop to promote socio-economic alternatives and, on the other, the ethical bank Koop57. Both projects are part of the Olatukoop network, based on the social and transformative economy.
