From 11 to 13 July, groups of young people from all over the world gathered at the meeting ESE2106 (European Expo Science 2016) that was held in Tolosa (France), where the delegation of Elhuyar attended with young people Ander Fernández de Larrea and Fernando Arana Ruiz, awarded at the Elhuyar Electricity Science Fair 2016, and with their project Ferrocarriles

MILSET (Mouvement International pour le Loisir Scientifique et Technique) is the meeting point of non-profit associations worldwide that seek to promote the taste for science among young people, organized by CIRASTI Midi-Pyrénées, member of MILSET.

The team of evaluators offered young people Ander Fernández de Larrea and Fernando Arana Ruiz the possibility of going to Tolosa at the Science Fair 2016 for the project led by professors Amaia Pérez and Josune Anasagasti of the ikastola Lauro. Young people have proposed the invention of using piezoelectricity to generate electric energy on the roads. Precisely, according to them, “with the aim of promoting the urban economy, welfare and the environment, the need arises for an application of a renewable and viable energy source. We have seen that the daily actions carried out by human beings today are wasted, especially in mobility. We want to achieve new pathways to energy, in search of sustainable environmental development, to have a cleaner planet.”

This year 119 projects from 34 countries around the world have been presented at the ESE2016 meeting and the organizers have proposed to young participants scientific actions for the whole week. Throughout the week participants will share experiences with other young people in Tplosa.

The Elhuyar Foundation has joined the MILSET movement and has been approved at the July 12 general assembly as a member of MILSET.
