Elhuyar has published a new application for the consultation of dictionaries and other language resources for mobile: APP dictionary.

It is now available on Google Play for Android mobile and the App Store for iOS mobile.

HiztegiAPP is more than one dictionary that allows simultaneous consultation of 36 language resources. Offers bilingual, multilingual dictionaries, synonym dictionaries, corpus, Xuxen spell checker, etc. Default query in 8 language resources:

• Euskalterm
• Unified Dictionary of Euskaltzaindia
• Labayru dictionary
• General Basque Dictionary
• UZEI Synonyms Dictionary
• Specifically Dictionary
• Encyclopedic Dictionary of Science and Technology

If desired, you can perform simultaneous searches on all these resources or customize the list of resources for the query and modify them whenever you want taking into account the needs of the moment. Depending on the resources you choose, you have more than one language option, including Basque (Spanish, French, English, German, Latin, Japanese…).

The application is very simple and if you are looking from the Basque language, in addition, the HiztegiAPP app has the ability to “lematize” the search. That is, if the user does not know the meaning of “nentorkizu”, for example, before performing the search, the HiztegiAPP application will find the root of “come” and the user will directly see the search result of the latter. Simply activate the “lematization” option that appears at the end of the resource list.
