Elhuyar's Language and Technology services have been widely welcomed in 2020 and have had more users than ever before.

The Elhuyar dictionaries website has received 6,572,547 visits and users have conducted 64,985,491 queries, 11% more than in 2019.

Elhuyar's multilingual automatic translator (translator) has received 1,776,767 visits and 12,180,660 translation requests. In total, 287,949,688 words were translated, 58% from Spanish to Basque, 17% from Basque to Spanish, 8% from Spanish to Catalan, 8% from Spanish to Galician and 9% from translations among other pairs of languages.

In addition to offering the service, Elhuyar has used the year 2020 to update and improve resources, as in previous years. Thus, on the dictionaries web it has updated 963 existing dictionary entries and added 1,223 new ones, including a covid-19 dictionary.

In addition, the professional translation service has renewed the quality certificate EN ISO 17100:2015 and trainers have provided 36 training sessions to professional translators outside Elhuyar. As every year, they have translated into several languages works from different fields, such as administrative texts, advertising texts, software localizations, university books of scientific and technical subjects and of ESO and Bachillerato.

#Elhuyar Recommendations

A new initiative named #Elhuyar Recommendations was launched in 2020. Through this initiative, recommendations related to the good use of the Basque through social networks are published and all the recommendations disseminated here are available.

At the same time, since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, a special effort has been made to offer updated terminology to those who had to write or speak about it, and the success of the work done is reflected in the increase of consultations in dictionaries.
