The translator uses state-of-the-art technology based on artificial intelligence and neural networks and performs translations between the Basque, Spanish, French, English, Catalan and Galician.
In this first year, the translation from Spanish to Euskera has been the most widely used.
The Elhuyar translator can be used on the web itzultzailea.eus or downloading the app to the mobile (Android and iOS).
Full translation of documents in format
Short texts can be returned copied into the “box” itself free of charge, without registration as a user. However, by registering on the web, the user has more options: on the one hand, he can translate more words using the text box of each moment (without registering, for every 100 words; registered, for every 500 words), and on the other hand, translate the documents in full format, respecting the format. Registered users may translate 3 documents with a format of up to 1,000 words for free. If you need more, you can buy this service on your own website and pay it with a card. The translators can be used to translate documents in different formats, but users have mainly used the translation of documents in Word format.
In the case of the mobile PPP, moreover, it is not necessary to insert the text in the application itself. When we are reading anything, we select the text, we press the copy button and among the options will appear the Elhuyar translator. By clicking on it, he brings us directly to the application and the text we have copied appears written in the corresponding text table.
In addition, the mobile app also allows the translation of the photo text. To do this, it is sufficient to open the application and place the mobile at the height of the image. The application will detect the text of the image and translate it to the language requested by us, without having to enter the text in the application letter to letter.

To develop the automatic translator, the Elhuyar Artificial Intelligence team has used the most innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence or neural networks. It is very comfortable and easy to use and flexible to be able to offer advanced services to customers who want it according to their needs. In fact, Elhuyar's automatic translator allows you to translate the documents into full format in a few seconds and introduce the system anywhere. In the case of translation services, the Translator can be used in the OLI tools (computer-assisted translations) (Wordfast, SDL Trados Studio...). On the other hand, the Translator offers a REST API to be integrated into the user's websites and CMS, the entity authentication system (through Single Sign On) or its own application.
In addition, for the coming year, we will adapt the professional charges so that small and medium-sized enterprises, small municipalities and self-employed translators can also use them.
Elhuyar's trajectory in linguistic technologies
Since its founding in 1972, Elhuyar has had the vocation to link languages to science and technology and is a reference in the treatment of the Basque language and the languages surrounding it. In 2002, he started his research in the field of language technologies with the Hizking21 project, and two years later he addressed machine translation. Since then he has participated in several projects in this area and made the services available.
