On 4 October the Kilometroak, Gipuzkoako Ikastolen Jaia, will be held, organized by the ikastola Udarregi of Usurbil. It will be in Usurbil, where also will be Elhuyar.Elhuyar will install two corners: the corner of experiments and the corner of products. In addition, with the excuse that Kilometroak will be held this year in Usurbil, several agents and wikizales from Usurbil, in collaboration with Elhuyar, have launched the Usurbilpedia project.

1. Corner of Elhuyar products (in the space of agents and craftsmen)

Under the slogan “Euskaraz eta zientziaz blai”, the scientific and linguistic products published by Elhuyar will be available throughout the morning in a stand.In it you can purchase books of scientific experiments for children and young people or adventure books, in addition to the possibility of acquiring and subscribing the journal Elhuyar of scientific dissemination for adults. In addition, the range of Elhuyar dictionaries can be found up close.

2. Corner of experiments (zone 1)

We put the Experiment Corner for the enjoyment of children from 6 to 10 years. It will be in the Ikastola, in the first zone, from 10:00 to 14:00. In the Txoko of the Experiments, children can play and perform spectacular experiments with common materials (sticks, plastic bottles, water, cans, balloons...). Elhuyar's friends will be there to satisfy their curiosity.

3. Usurbilpedia presentation

With the excuse that the festival of the ikastolas of Gipuzkoa will be held this year in Usurbil, several agents and wikizales of Usurbil, in collaboration with Elhuyar, have launched the project Usurbilpedia. Gradually, the objective is to complete and update the existing information on Wikipedia about Usurbil and usurbildarras, making available the heritage of usurbildarras and usurbildarras from the Basque language, the auzolan and the digital empowerment of citizens.

In fact, it is a long-term project. To begin with, we want to expand the information about the Kilometroak festival, to be held on October 4 in the municipality, in the largest number of languages spoken in Basque and in Usurbil. The main introduction was first made in Basque and is being adapted to the largest number of languages possible, with citizen participation. Citizens of different backgrounds will expand Kilometroak 2015 information to other languages.

What will be the next steps?

There are many ideas that we will outline. We want to be with the Usurbil associations to participate in the project and we will organize a wikimaraton in which the Wikipedia information is completed. It is important to encourage citizens and lose the fear of participating. Training sessions will be held for this purpose.
