Elhuyar, among many other services, has spent more than 20 years working on translation and proofreading. And the ways of working have changed a lot in 20 years.

In support of translators and proofreaders, there has been a leap from paper language resources to digital language resources, as well as the creation of translation memories and automatic translators.

But translation is more than translations. Follow-up of orders received: requests from each customer, delivery times, current status of work (not initiated, pending start, return, delivery, billing, collection…). The work received will be distributed among the internal staff of the company and external collaborators: allocation of the corrector translator… Budgets and invoices are accumulated and it is necessary to carry out a detailed monitoring of the billing.

The greater the work team, number of customers, number of orders, billing…, the greater the complexity of correctly managing the service.

To facilitate this management, at Elhuyar we use Itzulpenflow. The next step was the development of the Itzulpenflow web application. 10 years ago, in addition, we launched this platform to make available to third parties what was so beneficial within Elhuyar.

Itzulpenflow is a comprehensive platform that controls all the flow generated in the translation process. It includes all the elements involved in carrying out a translation: clients, deadlines, documents, suppliers, fees, invoicing, volume of work, translators/proofreaders…

Itzulpenflow is a tool to optimize the translation process. Among other things, it contributes to an adequate assignment of tasks, storage of documents, relations with customers and suppliers and greater competitiveness in the market. As well as communication with the client, control of translation and correction requests, assignment of tasks to translators and other administrative matters such as billing.

In addition to the above, Itzulpenflow has other advantages:

  • In order to use the platform it is not necessary to install anything, just have internet connection and access the Itzulpenflow website (both from the computer and from a mobile device).
  • It contains the versions of all the documents generated in the different stages of the translation and correction process, allowing to work with formats as diverse as Word, Excel, Power Point or the usual OpenOffice formats.
  • Allows to see the status of applications (both punctual and historical).
  • Allows to see the cost of each job, billing, pending billing and spent.
  • Once the job is completed and ready for delivery, the applicant receives a notice by email or by the desired communication channel.
  • It is a multilingual system. It can be used in Basque, Spanish and French, being able to change the language at any time.
