2015 | May 13

Yesterday, 12 May, the Donostia Foundation 2016 and the UPV presented an application for the promotion of multilingualism. This is a mobile application developed within the project called Multilingual Notices. The Multilingual Ads app allows the automatic processing of contents and allows the reception of texts and audios in the mobile in the language chosen by each one.

To do this the app reads the QR codes and translating this information automatically into the user's language (there are more than 20 languages available) the mobile becomes a personalized audio guide.

The starting point of the application was the final project of Manex Garaio. Developed in open source and used for the first time in the Albaola Maritime Cultural Factory, the objective is to extend the application to other places. In particular, Elhuyar will carry out this work to adapt and disseminate the application to local needs. Thus, in some pairs of languages, ready-made texts will be inserted and others are intended to be offered by machine translation.
