Three pairs of languages: eu-es/eu-fr/eu-en

The website of the general bilingual dictionaries (hiztegiak.elhuyar.eus) has more and more users and more and more queries. In 2018, 878,873 people visited the web (595,358 in 2017) and conducted 4,665,125 consultations (2,555,475 in 2017) in EU-ES/EU-FR/EU-EN dictionaries.

Most of these queries are done through the computer (66%), but more and more queries are made from smartphones and tablets (34% in 2018). To facilitate access to users of these mobile devices, in 2011 we created a specific application for Android and iOs.

Since then we have periodically renewed the application of our dictionaries, both in content and in the consultation system. And it is now available to download free the latest version in Play Store and App Store.

In the application you can consult the Euskera-Castilian, Euskera-French and Euskera-English dictionaries, both online and offline.

If we perform online queries, the application will show us the data of the latest versions of the dictionaries available on the Internet at that time. If we do not have an Internet connection, we can activate the offline mode and consult the December 2018 data of dictionaries.

Now available to download the new app on Google Play (for Android mobile) and AppStore (for iOS mobile).

In the same application you can consult the three bilingual dictionaries of Elhuyar, and the user can change at any time the query dictionary in the main menu.

This application is a very useful tool for students and teachers, writers and translators, journalists, technicians and professionals and, of course, for anyone who uses Basque.

In addition to checking the payments of the Basque words in Spanish, French or English (and vice versa), in the application we can hear how the words are pronounced. In addition, it saves the search word history and allows us to create a list of words we like.

In the new version, the search box is always available. If we have to do several consecutive searches, we just have to write the words alternately in the box.

On the other hand, we can easily change the meaning of the query, since the dictionary turns the text under the "Elhuyar" logo of the initial screen.
