Euskaltzaindia has completed the Basic Lexicons of Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy and has hung them on the net. He has posted in PDF (www.euskaltzaindia.eus) dictionaries of these subjects, with the benefits in Spanish, French and English. In total, 723 mathematical terms, 838 of physics and 302 of astronomy have met in this basic lexicon.
This is the result of the work carried out since 2007 the project Zientzia eta Teknika Hiztegia (ZTHB). The aim of this project is to enrich the Unified Dictionary with scientific and technological concepts and with expressive words. Now, Euskaltzaindia has decided to elaborate these three dictionaries, collecting the concepts taught in education and the words used in the digulation of science and technology, although they are not in the current version of the Unified Dictionary.
Elhuyar has participated directly in the elaboration of the three dictionaries.
On the one hand, Elhuyar manages the whole process of elaboration of basic lexicons: creation of collections of texts, automatic obtaining of candidates of these texts, channeling of the conceptual selection of experts, coordination of the expert group and the RVCTI working team, and elaboration of proposals of basic lexicons presented to Euskaltzaindia. The computer infrastructure of the process is also organized by Elhuyar. To carry out these works, Euskaltzaindia has signed an agreement with Elhuyar for each of the basic lexicons.
On the other hand, Antton Gurrutxaga, partner of Elhuyar's lexicography services, has been a member since the beginning of the ZTHB project.
Finally, Elhuyar has made available to Euskaltzaindia a series of linguistic (Corpus of Science and Technology, Corpus Web Elhuyar and Elhuyar Dictionary) and technological (Corpus Web of the sector) resources for the automatic creation of the web corpus of the sector through the Internet (Comparable Corpus Compiler).
