On 29 April, the Royal Academy of Basque Language, in plenary session held in Pamplona, appointed six new members of the Academy of Basque Language. Among them is Patxi Petrirena Alzuguren, member of the Language and Technology unit of Elhuyar.

Patxi Elhuyar has been working in the translation and proofreading service since 2008. In addition to making translations of Spanish into Basque, he is dedicated to the correction of texts in Basque, providing training to translators and other professionals working in Basque in various institutions, such as journalists, standards and criteria in Basque.

A lot of work has been done outside Elhuyar in the field of Basque. He was one of the authors of the Euskaldunon Newspaper style book and in 2011 he wrote the book “Doubts and Instructions on Morphosyntax” (Volume 7 of the EIMA style book).

The proportion of Elhuyar Basque is not easy, which we already had between our two companions: Alfonso Mujika Etxeberria (since 2006) and Antton Gurrutxaga Hernaiz (since 2013). In addition, another of the five Navarros designated together with Patxi on Friday is one of the collaborators of the Elhuyar translation service: Amaia Apalauza Ollo. Four others were Xabier Erize Etxegarai, Maite Lakar Iraizoz, Rosa Ramos Alfaro and Castillo Suarez Garcia.
