Bilbao, 10 December 2018. The manager of Petronor Innovación, Elías Unzueta, and the director of the Elhuyar Foundation, Leire Cancio Orueta, together with the project director, Garbiñe Alkiza, today presented in Bilbao the specialized dictionary Petronor Oil&Gas, a consultation tool in the oil & gas sector with more than 1,500 specialized concepts and about 300 technical definitions.
This work, presented in the framework of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Petronor, will be of great use for professionals of the refining industry and for young people in training in the sector.
The dictionary can be viewed online at http://hiztegia.petronor.eus/ and has been published in four languages: Basque, Spanish, English and French. In this way, it will contribute to the normalization of Basque and give visibility to Basque along with other languages through sectoral terminology.
The development process of the Petronor Oil&Gas Dictionary was supported by the team of terminologists from Elhuyar's Language and Technology unit and the participation of Petronor's experts, who shared their knowledge and opinions throughout the process. The project has also been based on the terminology of the refinery documentation.
